Special Precautions
Caution when used in inflamed eye as systemic absorption of the drug(s) may be increased. Protect the anaesthesised eye from foreign object contamination, especially in elderly.

Adverse Reactions
Allergic conjunctivitis, peri-orbital oedema, urticaria, rash. In rare cases, anaphylactic reactions.

Overdosage
Overdose is likely not to cause any adverse effects. However, overuse of local anaesthetics may cause keratitis, with loss of corneal epithelium and stromal opacity.

Action
Description: Lidocaine is an anaesthetic agent of the amide group. Fluorescein is a diagnostic dye. They are used together for the measurement of intraocular pressure by Goldmann tonometry.
